Rubber granules for tennis courts
Rubber granules for tennis courts offer excellent playability and weather resistance. Our top material, EPDM, ensures consistent bounce and grip in all conditions. Numerous courts have already been constructed using our solutions — visit the References section to explore selected projects.

Contrary to many other sports fields, tennis courts have several variations. They differ in the surface material because of the history of tennis. Games were held on grass, bare ground, clay, concrete and carpets. They all have their pros and cons. Some flaws can be mitigated, others are just traits meant to set the pace of the game. It’s not all about the ball bouncing off the surface. It also provides friction to the players’ shoes. They need to know precisely how rigid or slippery the tennis courts’ surfaces are.
Synthetic rubber for tennis court covering
Natural grass courts are the oldest type, but far less predominant than the others. Grass requires a lot of maintenance and can not be placed indoors. So, hard surfaces have been a more practical approach for decades. Some courts opt out for artificial turf, where the game is faster. An alternative is based on rubber granules manufactured by STARGUM. Combined with an appropriate adhesive, they create a material with remarkable properties. It is more abrasion resistant than grass – very useful where athletes run and sharply turn hundreds of times. Rubberlike elasticity also makes the surface safer. Rubber is even allowed by the guidelines of the International Tennis Federation, typically in a form of carpetlike mats.
Granules for construction of rubber tennis courts
One of the main types of tennis surfaces is a hard court made of asphalt or concrete. The game on it is faster than on clay because the ball bounces off higher, transferring little energy to the ground. Sadly, it’s rather unforgiving for players’ joints. Repetitive sudden turns cause a lot of strain of knees, ankles and hips. An alternative is rubber for tennis courts.
EPDM Colour is a material based on vulcanised rubber and it is STARGUM’s main product. It is meant for construction of playgrounds, recreational and sports surfaces including tennis. Our facility is capable of large-scale production in three sorts of granulation and over twenty colours. Other sizes and colours are available on request. Refer to the visualisations to get an idea how it would look like in reality. Elasticity is its innate characteristic. It makes any surface resistant to wear but easy on the body – even on hard impacts.
The professional surfaces are multilayered for increased longevity and better elasticity. SBR is a material designed specially for the lower layers of a running track or a tennis court. It has low bulk density and bigger granules than EPDM. In standard, it comes in black colour only.
Quality virgin EPDM is a material of the future, combining safety with a dynamic game. Contact us to learn more and place an order for rubber granules.
